_ The Grocery on Broad is more than just a store - it is a community hub committed to providing access to fresh, locally sourced groceries while supporting economic development, job training, and social initiatives in Frog Hollow.
We are a social enterprise, owned and operated by Forge City Works, a non-profit organization.
The Grocery is a job training social enterprise, as well as a fully functional neighborhood grocery, increasing healthy food access in the Frog Hollow neighborhood.
Our Farmer’s Market is an extension of the Grocery and will be managed by Grocery staff.
This position requires a motivated, organized, energetic, and hardworking individual who is interested in contributing to the growth and well-being of the Grocery, the Market, and all its employees.
The ideal candidate has a passion for food access, loves to please customers and must possess great interpersonal skills.

*Primary Roles & Responsibilities* As a Grocery Store Utility Worker, your primary responsibility is to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the store premises.
You play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for customers and staff alike.
Your duties will include cleaning various areas of the store, such as aisles, restrooms, break rooms, and back storage areas.
Attention to detail and adherence to established cleaning protocols are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: *Job Responsibilities:* * *General Cleaning * * Tasks sweep, mop, and vacuum floors and rugs to remove dirt, debris, and spills.
* Dust and wipe down shelves, displays, counters, windowsills, furniture, and fixtures.
* Clean windows, mirrors, glass doors and surfaces.
* Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins; replace liners.
* Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, shopping carts, and checkout counters.
* *Restroom Maintenance:* * Clean and disinfect restroom fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and urinals.
* Replenish restroom supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
* Ensure that restroom areas are odor-free and presentable at all times.
* *Break Room and Staff Area Cleaning:* * Clean tables, chairs, and other furniture in break rooms and staff lounges.
* Wipe down appliances, including microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee makers.
* Dispose of food waste and ensure proper storage of perishable items.
* *Stockroom, Walk-In and Storage Area Organization:* * Stock and maintain stockroom areas.
* Keep stockroom areas clean and organized.
* Dispose of empty boxes and packaging materials.
* Sweep and mop floors in storage areas to maintain cleanliness.
* Compliance with Safety and Sanitation Standards: * Follow established cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
* Use cleaning chemicals and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
* Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly.
*Job Expectations:* * Follow company policies and procedures regarding safety, sanitation, and security protocols.
* Adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
* Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance, adhering to assigned work schedules.

*Competencies:* * Previous experience in utility or cleaning roles is advantageous.
* Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and dedication to maintaining cleanliness standards.
* Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
* Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
*Experience:* * Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
* Familiarity with cash handling procedures and basic computer skills.
* Interest in local food systems, sustainability, and community development is desirable.
* Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
*Working Conditions:* * Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods.
* Work in varied temperature conditions, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
