Description:
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for the sanitization of the production area using chemicals and equipment per FDA guidelines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with housekeeping safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
Adhere to GMP guidelines for personal practices regarding hygiene and cleanliness
Conduct daily cleaning and sanitation of production facility and core operations equipment
Operate sanitation equipment
Utilize sanitation chemicals
Follow relevant SOPs
Comply with chemical control program
Follows safety practices and identifies/corrects potential hazards
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Must be able to read and comprehend MSDS to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals
Ability to read, write, and communicate about work instructions and safety information written in English
Must have the ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, other employees in the organization and vendors.
Punctual and reliable in their work attendance
Ability to perform basic math functions
Ability and desire to train other associates
Forklift certified preferred
Previous experience in a GMP regulated environment preferred
Previous OSHA experience preferred
Previous sanitation experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
High degree of physical activity and coordination required
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
May handle potentially hazardous materials
Must be able to handle floor scrubber, pressure washers, and hand tools
Continuous standing and frequent walking
Frequent pushing/pulling/lifting/reaching/grasping/twisting including waste bins, recycling materials, push pull carts
Occasional stair/ladder climbing
Work in moderately loud environment
Works near moving mechanical parts
Must wear PPE and GMP appropriate for the position: non-slip footwear, face masks, hair net, beard net (if applicable), nitrile food-grade gloves
Ability to pass the respirator fitness test
