Job Description and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Dining Room Supervisor and Dining Services Manager, incumbent is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for our residents and their guests.
Follows established order and style of service while serving in the Main Dining Room and at special functions.
Performs assigned side duties.
Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
Responsible for clearing dishes, bussing, and resetting tables.
Maintains a clean, neat appearance.
Performs any other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by your supervisor or any other member of the management staff.
Performs all job responsibilities according to Duncaster’s Policies and Procedures.

Demonstrates the ability to courteously serve all residents and their guests and answer any dining related questions.
Use of coffee machine, bread warmer, and hot fudge, and butterscotch sauce dispenser.
Clean tablecloth after each meal served and center piece, salt, and pepper shakers.
Neatly fold napkins.
Tables to be reset according to outline in Dining Room Manual Knows how to enter and transmit a food order though the Micros System.
Can comfortably open a check, transmit charges to finance and close a check.
Knows how to enter groceries and charges groceries and have residents sign the check.
Cleaning Schedule for all equipment End of shift schedule assignment task.
Receives written and oral instructions concerning opening and closing duties and seeks information if not readily available as noted by supervisor.
Collects information on specials and asks the chef questions related to food ingredients in order to inform residents about menu when taking an order as observed by resident comments and supervisor.
Offers specials and completes the order by asking appropriate questions to the customer in order to make their meal complete without additional trips as observed by supervisor.
Serves food in a timely manner and neatly as per policy.
Waits on and serves food to residents and guest in a pleasant and appropriate manner, according to department standards as noted by supervisor observation.
Assembles or garnishes plates in an attractive appetizing manner at all times according to department standards and procedures, as noted by the chef and supervisor.
Checks Tally to make sure all residents meals are accounted for and obtains production information to stock line as observed by supervisor.
Set up of special functions and recording charges into micros.
Carefully puts residents’ trays together and checks to make sure it is complete as noted by call back and supervisor observation.
Assemblies and prepares food and supplies according to approved recipes as observed by supervisor.
Maintains Dining Room and work areas in a clean and orderly manner at all times according to department standards as observed by random inspections.
Handles all glassware and silverware in a safe and sanitary manner and resets table according to procedures as observed by supervisor.
Silverware to be polish if needed.
All equipment/ utensils or trucks and tray stands are brought to the cleaning area at designated times for cleaning.
Delivers food/ trucks/ trays/ to designated location as specified on a timely basis according to policy and procedures.
Busses dirty dishes and lines according to standards as observed by supervisor.
Restocks supplies as needed, or otherwise as observed by inspection.
Follows all safety and sanitation procedures at all times as noted by safety record, incident record and supervisor observation.
Attends grocery store in a timely fashion and documents all transactions as per policy and procedure.
Delivers nourishments and floor stock to par levels on forms using FIFO and rotates as per policy and procedure as noted by supervisor.
Deliver and pick up functions.
Restocks refrigerators for next meal service and notes to supervisor of any substitutions or shortages as noted by supervisor.
Organizes work area in a manner conducive to high levels of efficiency, reports equipment malfunctioning, or potential hazards as observed by supervisor or customer response.
Assists other departmental staff with assigned duties and training with or without verbal requests.
Performs duties in an independent manner with minimal need for direct supervision as observed by supervisor.
Makes suggestions for improvement in food and service and participates in mandatory and regular meetings, provides input-feedback.
Always has the line stocked and is ready for service and in position to start on time as observed by supervisor.
Always checks with supervisor to assure dietary compliance is maintained before any menu substitution is made.
Documentation of all mealtime transactions with residents and guests, according to established policies and procedures Understanding - before each meal period - every menu item and special, well enough to answer diners’ questions.
Help park mobies and walkers if no one is waiting to be seated.
Make copies of all Thistle/Way breakfast trays for the week.
Make any changes needed on trays.
After all residents and guests have been seated, assist servers by helping to clear tables and give water to those in need.
Work as a server in the dining room or for special events when needed.
Preparation of routine set-up of dining room for next day and/or special holidays when needed.
If manager and supervisor are not available to close for the day, tally all residents’ names and collect all charge slips from servers.
Make sure all charges are entered into Micros.
Maintenance of confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to assure residents’ rights are protected.
Proper personal appearance and hygiene according to established procedures.
Attendance and participation in in-service training programs.
Reporting of all hazardous conditions or equipment.
Reporting of all accidents / incidents.
Maintaining quality level of service.
Performance of other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
Education and Experience Must be 16 years of age or older.
Must be able to speak, read and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Hours 20 hours per week: 11:00am-2:00pm or 4:00pm-8:00pm Pay $15.
