The Director, HR & Administration will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR) Team, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
This position also oversees and provides support to the administration team for the organization.
For both the HR Team and Administrative Teams, this role is responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training staff in these areas; managing the daily workflows of the departments; and providing constructive and timely feedback.
This role is part of the company’s Extended Leadership Team and supports all our managers with people-related processes.

Major Areas of Responsibility: People Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisor.
Attends and participates in employees’ disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Talent Acquisition Collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
Oversee the recruitment and hiring process in collaboration with internal customers.
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with team managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications by utilizing a third party.
Lead and manage the new hire orientation program.
Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
Oversees payroll process, including approvals, and acts as a backup to the payroll administrator.
Talent Management Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training across the organization.
Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities.
Reporting & Compliance Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Recommends best practices and reviews policies/practices to maintain compliance.
Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
Compensation & Benefits Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits.
Researches and proposes competitive base and incentive p[ay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Employee Engagement Manage all employee recognition programs.
Champion of Women Empowered at HORST Engineering.
Participate in the Women’s Mentoring Program.
Support the Young Professionals Group.
Helps produce various company events.
Administration Lead, oversee and direct the staff responsible for the company’s administrative services.
Collaborates with Senior Leadership Team to identify and deliver required administrative support services for the organization.
Partner with Facilities & Maintenance Team to ensure building is kept in pristine condition, whether that be pointing out regular maintenance/repairs needed; or partnering to ensure the outside of the building is clean and neat.
Manages HR and various committee budgets.
Vendor Management Oversee and manage all relationships with external vendors, including agencies, contractors, consulting agencies, etc.
Oversee and manage the relationships we have for coffee service and refreshments.
Oversee and manage the relationships with our benefit carriers, brokers, TPA’s, and other providers.
Safety Participate as a key member of the Safety Committee.
Ensure that all injuries are properly recorded, and essential compliance reporting is submitted in a timely manner.
Work with Facilities & Maintenance Team to schedule routine fire drills and ensure that the HERT (Horst Emergency Response Team) is fully trained and that we have enough regular members.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: 15+ Years of progressive HR experience with in HRBP and Leadership positions Bachelor's degree in HR required.
Demonstrated experience in a senior HR leadership role, preferably within an advanced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience with both hourly and salaried workforces.
Expertise and precision in employee relations, coaching and leadership.
Proven experience in benefit design, analytics; organizational design, succession planning, and executing strategic HR initiatives.
Deep experience in HR compliance and labor laws; change management.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Analytical and data focused decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to walk long distances across 100,000 square foot facilities.
Ability to travel, if needed Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
