SUMMARY The Senior Manager of Facilities Engineering manages maintenance and plant operations functions for Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Connecticut Children's properties in accordance with standards set forth by and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, while ensuring compliance with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), the Joint Commission, NFPA, and OSHA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Human Resources related requirements as they relate to direct reports, operational and fiscal oversight of the facilities engineering and real estate annual budget, and compliance documentation as it relates to the regulating bodies having jurisdiction.
The Senior Manager supports strategic objectives by effectively managing the capital portfolio as it relates to facilities engineering, operations, and maintenance.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with senior management team when facility related strategic needs are being evaluated.
Uses creative problem solving and strong decision making skills to recommend a course of action with little or no consultation from superiors.
Manages the physical plant, plant operations and maintenance activities for the main hospital and satellite facilities.
Establishes and manages to department specific goals and objectives, including helping to establish and/or maintain data on KPIs for the department.
Manages offsite property maintenance, both preventative and emergent.
Coordinates with key points of contact for leased spaces as required to coordinate and facility work at offsites as needed for upkeep and repairs.
Coordinates with the Planning, Design, and Construction team to ensure new construction meets standards of the organization for offsite locations.
Provides oversight to the computerized maintenance management system; ensures preventative and corrective work order systems are executed according to standards and as required to maintain compliance with the authorities having jurisdiction Provides oversight to manage and/or maintain space inventory in collaboration with Planning, Design, and Construction Department, building management, and real estate lease databases.
Responsible for the hospitals Utilities Systems Management and Life Safety Management Plans and Statement of Conditions.
Directly manages the Manager of Plant Operationsand Life Safety and Fire Protection Program Manager Coordinates and/or supports capital project installation and implementation as required.
Signs off on all requests for above ceiling work permits, hot work permits, and ICRA applications, after appropriate review by the supporting teams.
Ensures all established customer service standards are demonstrated by all staff, ensuring the best possible experience for customers, ie.
patients, family and team members, is achieved.
Acts as department representative in Environment of Care, Infection Control, Emergency Preparedness and other Safety Committees.
Performs EOC rounds on a routine basis with the intent of maintaining compliance in our physical environments.
Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements through creating policies and procedures that keep pace with the ever changing healthcare environment Prepares and oversees department operating and capital budgets.
Researches, collects, analyzes and summarizes information and source materials for reports and statistical and fiscal data.
Responsible for mentoring and coaching department team members to contribute to a supportive working environment.
Controls departmental resources and policy formation and upkeep Position Specific Role Responsibilities Manage the hospital physical plant, Engineering and Life Safety Compliance, Real Estate and off-site maintenance operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Direct manager to 2 full time employees.
Manages the Manager of Plant Operations who oversees 18 full time employees across 3 shifts which includes a rotational on call schedule for nights and weekends, and the Life Safety and Fire Protection Program Manager.
Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent plus extensive related experience may substitute for degree Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years' job related experience, with evidence of progressive leadership responsibility is required.
Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are required.
Knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission and NFPA standards are required.
Experience with OSHA, EPA, DEEP and Department of Public Health regulations is required.
Experience Preferred: Experience with AutoCad, Revit and Bluebeam are preferred.
