Ellington Public Schools is looking for a licensed plumber to join our team!RESPONSIBILITIES: Plumbers general responsibilities are to troubleshoot, install, repair, replace or renovate any and all plumbing systems throughout all the buildings assigned to the Ellington Public Schools district.
Troubleshoot, repair, replace or renovate all plumbing systems including all forms of flush valves, faucets, drain assemblies, supply tubing, toilets, urinal, drinking fountains, hot water heaters, motors and pumps, electric solenoid valves, actuators, pressure reducing valves, gas valves, gas pressure regulators, roof drain assemblies, drainage waste and vent repair and replacement consisting of cast iron, PVC (schedule 40 & 80) and or ABS, water supply repairs consisting of copper, soldered fittings, and propress fittings.
Must provide all necessary hand-tools as required to perform all plumbing repairs and installationsEnsure compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules; monitors systems functioning for the purpose of recognizing potential problems; addresses such accordingly.
Functions independently as applicable to assigned work orders, or as part of a work crew engaged in other assigned projects or tasks.
Fills out and maintains work orders; maintains daily activity logs and associated data records.
Works with contractors to insure quality inspection, testing and repair of sprinkler, sewer and domestic water systems.
Perform other maintenance/carpentry duties as needed.
Perform any other related work assigned by Director of Facilities or DesigneeQUALIFICATIONS: Must possess State of Connecticut Trade License, P-2 or P-1 preferredMust possess a valid drivers licenseMust be willing to respond to emergency work that might emerge outside of normal work scheduleProficient knowledge of plumbing materials, tools and techniques of plumbing tradeKnowledge of national and local plumbing code and any other state, local or Federal regulations for plumbing workAbility to read and work from blueprintsAbility to understand drawings and specifications for small plumbing projectsSkilled in use of hand and power tools, testing devices applied in the plumbing tradeMust be able to work within difficult time constraints and under stressful conditionsMust possess knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety protection of the trade together with the specific requirements imposed upon workers in the performance of work by the Occupational Safety and Health ActMust have the ability to lift 50 poundsMust be capable of working both independently and as a team memberBENEFITS: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance403(b)Paid time offConnecticut's Municipal Employees Retirement System (CMERS) pensioned position
