com The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the HR Generalist at Altek are described below: Summary Responsible for performing Human Resources related responsibilities while working closely to support the HR Manager and other functional areas of the organization through administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the HR Generalist at Altek Support the HR function in implementing and administering HR policies and processes, benefit programs, and other HR functions including but not limited to safety initiatives, recognition programs, etc… Plans and facilitates the new hire onboarding and orientation process ensuring all hires fully comply with orientation training and compliance requirements including processing I9 e-verifications.
Maintains employee data integrity throughout all HR related systems ensuring the data is accurate.
Facilitates state and federal HR compliance activities and requirements (including but not limited to monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis).
Support recruiting activities including but not limited to reviewing job descriptions, managing job postings, interview scheduling, maintaining and working within the Applicant Tracking System.
Maintain employment related files (including personnel, medical, benefit, FMLA/LOA, workers compensation, and training files) in conjunction with Federal/State law and take ownership of timely filing of employee paperwork.
Assist in administering benefits for new hires and existing employees, including group health, 401K, life insurance, worker’s compensation and annual open enrollment.
Assist with payroll related processing, tasks and inquiries as assigned.
Support the HR technology ecosystem (such as HRIS, benefit navigators, LMS, etc.
) to ensure each system is meeting departmental needs.
Additionally, may facilitate improvement initiatives as assigned .
Leave of absence administration including FMLA, CT FMLA and coordinating CT Paid Leave paperwork.
Provide knowledgeable and timely responses to employee questions on benefits and general HR items.
Prepare employment verification letters for employees, DOL correspondence and respond to employment verifications as needed.
Prepare standard and other ad hoc reports to provide data for a variety of internal reporting requirements and HR projects and activities.
Back-up HR when Human Resources Manager is out of the office and administer “first line” HR support in their absence.
Ad-hoc and special projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements High degree of Confidentiality, basic understanding of how HIPPA applies to Human Resources Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently utilizing prioritization and organization skills.
Ability to explain complex issues to others with less subject matter knowledge.
Exceptional people skills and confidence to interact and communicate with employees at all levels.
Self-starter, self-motivated and results oriented.
Ability to learn quickly.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Must be flexible, service-oriented and have a strong sense of urgency.
Computer Skills Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Previous experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus, and/or experience with HRIS systems with ability to learn ADP WFN Education and/or Experience High School Diploma / GED, with 1 – 2+ years of experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment OR Degree in Human Resources, business management, psychology or other related field with 0 – 2 years of experience.
Experience in any one or more or the following areas recruiting, processing payroll, HRIS / Applicant Tracking Systems / Learning Management Systems.
Working Conditions Working conditions are normal for a business casual office environment in a manufacturing setting.
Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
General working hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm, but a flexible schedule between 7 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday may be considered.
All work will be performed on-site.
